Somatic Counseling

The soma, or "living body," is an instrument of perception. Feelings like joy, stress, anger, sadness, and pain reflect how our mind and body seek equilibrium. By engaging with our bodies, we can develop a healthy relationship to ourselves, enhance present-moment awareness, live authentically, make empowered choices, and increase our capacity to experience pleasure. This process of learning to connect with ourselves generates an upward spiral extending to all of our relationships leading to mind body spirit flourishing. This is particularly helpful for transforming the impact of trauma and stress on our nervous system.

Mindful Awareness in Body-oriented Therapy (MABT)

This evidence-based somatic therapy combines touch, mindfulness, and dialogue in a customized approach to enhance body awareness and presence. This gentle, client-led method taps into our innate body intelligence and particularly benefits those who have experienced trauma or toxic stress, live with pain or other chronic health conditions, or seek more intimacy and self-care tools. Curiosity about your internal experience and a willingness to engage in your healing are helpful for this work.

Body-oriented Coaching

This is an opportunity to receive support with whatever you are working toward in your life, big or small. This approach utilizes body-oriented processes to facilitate life navigation, clarify next steps, identify obstacles, and align your life processes with your intentions.

I can walk with you as you prepare for an important project, hone your vision, explore feelings of burnout, performance anxiety, or dissatisfaction in any life arena. You will have the opportunity to learn practices to strengthen your connection to your innate wisdom, while elucidating practical action steps.

What it’s like to work with me

I hold a non-judgmental, loving, and empowering space for the process to unfold. This is your time to approach your tender edges, protective patterns, inner resources, or whatever you are interested in exploring with support. Background and context is important to understanding what arises. However I will often invite being in present moment experience rather than repeatedly rehash the past. You may be invited to move your body or we may decide together to integrate touch into your sessions. A sense of curiosity about your internal experience and readiness to participate in your own health and healing are helpful for this work.

As if your place in the world mattered

and the world could neither speak nor hear the fullness of

its own bitter and beautiful cry without the deep well

of your body resonating in the echo.
